MISS B'S BEAUTY SCHOOL

I usually don't post photo's of myself.  Like the Yeti, Big Foot and the Lochness Monster I don't much care for my photo being taken. The Fancy says I am terrible at it too--word. I always either have a startled look in my eyes or a fake frozen smile (or both if I am feeling particularly photogenic).  If this photo looks familiar it is only because I pose like this in every photo.  I think my nose looks too pointy (which it really is) when I look the camera straight on. If I did this shot straight on I might have cut you through your computer screen and that wouldn't be a good way to start the day now would it?  I am showing you this image because I really wanted to let you know how obsessed I am over my new drugstore foundation find--NatureLuxe by Cover Girl. It is perfect for my dry skin, age spots and crinkly eyes (look what  you have to look forward too!) without feeling heavy and allowing my skin texture to still show through so it doesn't look like I am wearing too much foundation. All I ever wanted in life (okay one of the things) is flawless skin.  I want my skin to always look fresh, dewy like I am not trying too hard (the mascara is a totally different ball game).  I still am using the L'oreal Infallible, never fail, lipgloss in Suede, I think it's the perfect nude lip color and you can build it if you want a more nude/opaque look (ala Bardot). I think I should buy stock in it, I have sold more tubes of that lipgloss....I am using my favorite cheek stains from Tarte for blush, I promise you if you can't put anything else on just squash the tube on your cheeks it is instant pretty (yes, it's as easy as a squash/smoosh, quick rub in).  I am leaning towards more peachy tones lately so I have been using Tipsy (the tube should last for like ever). If your skin tone is more on the Snow White-ish side may I suggest Flush?  It's a perfectly rosy, natural blush. You will love it. My mascara?  It's pricey but worth every.single.swipe.  I have tried to stray because I use so much mascara I would prefer to just be in love with a drugstore brand but hands down there is no better mascara for me and my oily eyes than Tarte's 'Lights, camera, lashes'. A couple swipes and I look like I have false eyelashes and I am sorry but that's where I draw the line at looking natural, I want to look like a doe.  That's my thing the mascara, I am one of those people that won't leave the house without it (or my foundation or blush).

If I told you how old I was, I think this post would be more impressive and sell more foundation but I am not going to go there.  Suffice to say that I am probably your mom's age. I hope this has been helpful and you may have found some new products to indulge in!

My mom is 52, and I so don't buy that you are in your 50's!

Thanks for the tip on the foundation though. The mabelline that I found last year (that I love as much as you love this one) was discontinued and I bought a bunch on Amazon. When it runs out I'm going to try this one!

Andree (May 29, 2011 at 2:27 PM)

Now I have something else to add to my "Buy in the USA" list for later this summer! I've been using a Clinique foundation, but am looking for something light and will give yours a go!

Thanks for the tips!

PS - I can't stand being in front of the lens either. My expression freezes like a deer in headlights.

You like saying that you're older than you look, but based on that idea, I'd say you're probably actually 29...because you look like you're 23 in this pic.

I'm not much of a foundation person, but I might just give this a try...

Miss B. (May 29, 2011 at 5:09 PM)

Heather, I am not 52 but I will be one day (sooner-ish). Andree I will ship you a tube let me know what color you think you may be;) Better yet, I should just fly to France and drop off in person, non? Mollie, I love you dear girl. I used to not be a foundation person either than one day I woke up with age spots and became one, lol.

Big kisses to you all!

your picture and you are so pretty!

i love the tarte mascara too... my drugstore favorite is Max Factor's 2000 calorie mascara (which i've been wearing for years because it's the only drugstore mascara that doesn't leave me with black eyes after a couple of hours of wear, is gentle, isn't waterproof so it actually washes off easily, and plumps up my lashes like the tarte one does... i don't know if you've ever tried that one, but i always recommend it.

love the tarte blush too (in flush :)

i wish i could wear the cover girl foundation, but none of the colors are a good match for me... :( i love the feel of it though!

OK, the fact that my mother is in her seventies means I may be one of your oldest readers! Maybe I'm your mother's age?

Age aside, I loved hearing about a reasonably priced foundation. I'm still wearing powder but would really like to find sometihng nice and light so my skin doesn't look so dry. Thank you!

I like the Nars Multiples for cheeks. Pricey but it is so subtle I can wear it without any other make-up.

Thanks again for the great tips!

If you are over 35, you should be in every commercial on tv. You don't look a day past 25!

Mrs Soup (May 31, 2011 at 1:21 PM)

I so agree with Karley, if you are older than 35 you need to do a commercial because you look better than me and I'm 29. So jealous....

I want to check out the lip gloss and the foundation. I love Cover Girl!

As a hoarder of all things tarte, just when I thought I had cheek stains to last a lifetime, they've gone and made MATCHING powder blushes for each shade. They're called 12-hr amazonian clay and they are really, really good.

Lol, thank you for your comments and kind words. I am older than 29, and just below 70 Catherine;) I love the Nars sticks, but have become addicted to the Tarte, it's so natural. Thank you so much!!!

Lady, I love your beauty reviews. I think we have the same makeup priorities but I have yet to venture into the foundation territory and I need to start exploring. I suddenly developed an age swath under my left eye sometime over the last couple of years. As soon as I get a little bit of sun, it gets darker and people start asking me if I got punched. Literally. I had two people ask me last week.

P.S. Still using that LOreal mascara you recommended last year and I love it. BUT, I have the worst time getting mascara to come off completely so I use Blinc on a day to day basis and real mascara for weekends. Can you recommend really amazing eye make up remover?

Miss B. (June 1, 2011 at 4:06 PM)

Rachel, I so feel for you and your eye 'swath'. My weird pigmentation is on my cheeks such a bummer. I used to love the Body Shop's eye make-up remover, it's really gentle but works (or used to I haven't tried it in awhile). It's in a huge bottle so a little goes a long way and it's relatively inexpensive for how much you get. Oh, yes it's not oily at all, super important for me because I wear contacts and hate to have 'filmy' eyes. Nowadays I use Philosophy's 'Purity made simple', it's a make-up remover and face wash all in one. It's fragrance-free and not drying and I am quite addicted (again a little goes a looong way). It comes in a sample/travel size too so you don't have to invest in a huge container. I wear A LOT of mascara and this takes it right off (btw, never waterproof just the regular), they have them in towel versions now as well which sounds great for travel (not that I do much of that anymore, lol).

Thank you! Totally going to check it out. I love piles of mascara, but hate having dingy undereyes if I wear it daily. Blinc is a reasonable weekday compromise, but I miss my drag queen eyelashes. And I also wear contacts, so the non-oily is good.
