NARWHALS

This little fella appeared in my inbox a couple of weeks ago courtesy of Anthropologie.  A couple of weeks ago I wasn't interested in ornaments, although truth be told, I am always interested in Narwhals.  Who isn't? The sea unicorn as they are affectionately called are quite the specimen.  If 'Sea Unicorn' wasn't already taken as a shop name it would have definitely been a contender for what is now Besotted Brand. I also considered the name 'Butter' because I think butter makes most everything better, but we were discussing ornaments...I always admire these ornaments at Anthro, but never ever get any because A) they are cost prohibitive in multiples and B) what am I going to do with one rogue narwhal on my Christmas tree? I prefer symmetry, like Noah before me (see A.)  Then I had a stroke of genius (okay, maybe not genius, but honor roll student). What if I get one every year? Just one. If I had done this prior, all those years Anthro has been tempting me with their sweet ornaments I would have quite the collection, but no I was stuck on my A & B reasoning. This year I will buy one, just one, maybe the narwhal, maybe a whale?  Who knows, I might even do something crazy and get a polar bear. Happy Cyber Monday!

I ordered the whale this weekend. Anthro always has fantastic ornaments. I love the Narwhal too.

I love the Narwhal! {also, in the movie "Elf" when that cute little Narwhal rose from the water and wished "hope you find your dad buddy" - it was the coolest thing, ever}
I wanted to be a Marine Biologist and work for Greenpeace when I was like, 13. But I still love everything Marine life. I totally agree - get one each year and build a fabulous collection ~ xoxo

I think maybe he is gone! Just did a little perusing and I didn't see a narwhal! Did you snag one?

Erin, the whale is super cute, I saw him? her? at Paper-Source and almost picked it up, it's so pretty I am thinking it would be pretty in my studio all year.

Antique Paperie, a girl after my own heart, I love me some talking Narwhal.

Margaret Edith I did not buy my Narwhal, I was planning on going into Anthro this week:)

OR ... you wait for post Christmas and scoop them up in the store. They discount like crazy as soon as it's over! I actually buy all my stocking stuffers one week post Christmas for the following year. Yep, totally obsessive/cheap. I simply hate setting foot in stores the week before Christmas, but I love my annual solitary post Christmas shopping expedition.

I came across this pin right after reading this blog post so I had to share: http://pinterest.com/pin/172684966931577649/

What a handsome fellow he is . . . I do so love ornaments with character. I'm also rather fond of ornaments with a story. For years I've purchased an ornament on vacations. The only problem: it takes ten times longer to decorate the tree because I'm constantly stopping to exclaim, "Oh, I remember this . . . "

Rachel you are so smart! I shall follow your lead and find me an Anthro after Christmas sale.

Hope I am off to see your Pin, but first I need to let Amy know that I am okay with taking a trip down memory lane, it will be a nice little reprieve from my hectic schedule:)

I love how the ornament looks as though it was found in someone's great grandmother's attic. I love that! I also love that when I clicked the pin Paper Relics posted from Pinterest it went to a friend of mine - could this world grow any smaller? Too funny!

The sea unicorn is a cutie. I would hang him on my Christmas tree.
